For example, if the holiday falls on a Monday, UWS will collect Monday routes on Tuesday and so on through Saturday. If a holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, there will be no delay or "shift". Mandatory Commercial Recycling

The State of California passed Assembly Bill 341, requiring mandatory recycling starting July 1, 2012.

Assembly Bill 341 requires all businesses that generate 4 cubic yards of waste per week and multi-family dwellings with 5 or more units (such as apartments) to arrange for recycling services.

If your business or multi-family dwelling is interested in adding recycling services through Universal Waste Systems, make sure to contact Universal Waste Systems Customer Service at 1-800-631-7016.

Mandatory Commercial Organics Recycling

According to Assembly Bill 1826, businesses and multi-family dwellings that generate more than 4 cubic yards of organic waste per week must have organic recycling services.

What are Organics?

Organics are defined by the State as food waste, green waste, landscape and pruning waste, nonhazardous wood waste, and food-soiled paper waste that is mixed with food waste.

Businesses who generate more than the organics mandated limit need to have a food waste recycling program and multi-family dwellings that generate more than the 4 cubic yards of organics waste must be properly recycling their green waste to be in compliance with Assembly Bill 1826.
