Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project

The City owns and operates a sanitary sewer system comprised of approximately 120 miles of gravity sewer lines. A design consultant has produced videos of select sewer segments using special cameras which are inserted into the sewer system at manholes. These videos were utilized to assess the condition of these sewers and to develop recommended methods for pipeline rehabilitation.  The methods utilized on this project include Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP), a method of trenchless rehabilitation of pipelines that involves placing a resin impregnated fiber tubing within the existing sewer pipe and curing the resin with steam resulting in a new pipe within the existing old pipe.  In addition to the CIPP method, which constitutes the majority of the project (14,000’), approximately 500’ of sewer pipeline has been replaced with new pipes and approximately a dozen sectional spot repairs of sewers have occurred.  Finally, the project includes construction of 4 new manholes and epoxy lining of existing manholes.   Design of sewer improvements was completed in October 2024. The construction project was awarded by City Council on December 10, 2024. Construction started on March 10, 2025 and is expected to be completed by November 2025.  A hotline has been established where residents and business can call to register any concerns or inquire about the project.  The number is (562) 888-9117.  Below are maps that depicts the sewer lines and manholes included in the project.
