Lieutenant Evelyn Garcia
Lieutenant Evelyn Garcia started her career with the City of South Gate at the age of 14 as a student worker. She became a Police Explorer at the age of 17 and later worked as a Community Service Officer and a Parking Enforcement Officer. In 2006 she was hired as a Police Officer and graduated from the Rio Hondo Police Academy in 2007.
As a police officer she worked Patrol and was a General Investigations Detective. She promoted to the rank of Sergeant in May of 2015. As a Sergeant she was assigned to Patrol and supervised the Community Relations Team, the Mental Health Team, and the Recruitment Team. In January 2020, she became the first female at South Gate PD to promote to the rank of Police Lieutenant. Throughout the years, she has shown a great deal of pride, dedication, and commitment to our Police Department and our Community.
