The City of South Gate is undertaking an aggressive tree maintenance program to preserve the City’s urban forest and neighborhood safety.  The City has a $ 4.65 Million contract with United Pacific Services, Inc. (UPS) which provides for a robust maintenance program.  This includes services such as trimming on a four-year cycle, as-needed trimming to address community concerns, priority trimming to reduce risks and potential liability, emergency removals, and tree planting.  Below are some of the highlights and accomplishments completed to date since the start of the contract last fiscal year.

Does the city trim trees throughout the city?

A total of 5,582 trees have been trimmed to date, 454 trees removed, and 68 tree stumps removed.  This fiscal year, an additional 1,652, and 415 trees are scheduled to be trimmed and removed, respectively.   If you would like to learn more about the City’s tree maintenance program, please visit the City’s website.
