Earth Day Event

Come join the City of South Gate for the 20th annual Earth Day Community Cleanup and Celebration event on Saturday, April 26 from 8am-12pm at South Gate Park.

Friends and families of all ages are welcome!

Earth Day Activities:

Litter cleanup
Bulky item drop-off
Tree planting
Graffiti removal

Free Mulch:

UWS will provide cubic foot bags of mulch to South Gate residents

Limit of two bags, while supplies last.
Proof of residency required

Free Paper Shredding (9am-11am):

UWS will provide free paper shredding services.

(3) standard office storage boxes per residence
Proof of residency required

Free Bulky item Drop-off (9am-11am):

Acceptable items include, but not limited to: Furniture and bulky household items (book cases, couches, mattresses, etc.) E-waste: computers, printers, cables, televisions, VCRs, stereos, and similar items.

Prohibited Items: Household hazardous waste (paint, motor oil, solvents, car batteries, anti-freeze, etc.), yard waste, construction material, and tires.

*The bulky item drop off is for South Gate residents only. Please bring proof of residency.

Prescription Drug Takeback:

Turn in your unused or expired medications for free disposal.

Volunteer

Registration begins at 7:00am.
A signed waiver(PDF, 196KB) is required to participate in select activities.
Please dress appropriately- clothing may get dirty. Closed-toe shoes are required.
Middle and high school students will be credited with community service hours.
