Tweedy Mile Complete Street Project
Tweedy Mile Complete Streets Project
The Tweedy Mile Complete Streets Project has substantially completed construction to enhance pedestrian, bicycle, and motorist safety, implement traffic calming measures, and address deferred maintenance. Improvements include high-visibility crosswalk enhancements and corner bulb-outs at 11 intersections, parklets, in-roadway warning lights at four uncontrolled student crossings, traffic signal upgrades for pedestrian safety, ADA ramp improvements, paver restoration, and road rehabilitation from Dearborn Avenue to Dorothy Avenue.
The Project also added bike racks, bus shelters, wayfinding signs for Tweedy parking lots, trash receptacles, shade trees, and street furniture to encourage walking and bicycling. Additionally, student-pedestrian safety has been improved at four intersections near Los Angeles Unified School District schools.
With construction now substantially complete, the City invites residents, businesses, and visitors to experience the new improvements. These enhancements are intended to create a safer, more welcoming, and vibrant Tweedy Mile for the entire community.
