Crime Statistics

The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program was conceived in 1929 by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to meet a need for reliable, uniform crime statistics for the nation. In 1930, the FBI was tasked with collecting, publishing, and archiving those statistics. Since then, statistics have been tracked throughout the United States on a local, state and federal level. The South Gate Police Department provides the Federal Government our annual statistics that is included in annual statistical publications that are generated by the FBI. South Gate is one of 17,000 law enforcement agencies across the United States that participates in this program.
