Traffic Enforcement is an important and vital function of the South Gate Police Department. Concerns grow daily about traffic congestion and violations. Traffic laws are designed for the safe and orderly movement of vehicles and without them chaos would be inevitable.
Our traffic team enforces all violations related to traffic flow throughout the city. Traffic stops not only deter violators but often result in the apprehension of other criminal types.
The Traffic Division currently staffs two Motor Officers, one Traffic Investigator, and a full time staff of Parking Enforcement and Support Personnel. A traffic Sergeant oversees the unit and also manages the crossing guard program and offers expertise for traffic related accidents in reconstruction techniques and follow-up investigations.
