The position of City Clerk is one of seven (7) elected positions in the City of South Gate. Recently, the incumbent has resigned the office which creates a vacancy. The next General Election for the City of South Gate is November 8, 2022. Under California law, the City Council has chosen to appoint a qualified resident to fill the position for the remainder of the term of office (approximately seven months remaining).

Minimum requirements are that an individual be at least 18 years of age, a resident of the City of South Gate, and a registered voter.  Applications are available at the City Clerk's Office (8650 California Ave) or at cityofsouthgate.org.

Applications must be submitted by no later than Thursday, April 28, 2022, at 5 pm.
