Sign Permits

All signage requires Planning Division approval prior to being place on a building or construction site. After Planning Division approval is obtained, most signage also requires the approval of the Building & Safety Division.

Getting Planning Division Approval for Your Sign

It is advised that you contact a sign company to assist you in the preparation of the sign proposal documents and drawings. Drawings should be to scale and drawn in accordance to the South Gate Sign Code.

Once the drawings (Site Plan, Elevations and Design) are completed, you will need to submit three (3) sets of copiesf to the Planning Division for review and approval of signage proposal. The Planning Review fee is $69/sign for permanent sign(s), and $62/sign for temporary sign(s) being displayed for 90 days or less. Once approved by the Planning Division, you will need to obtain Building & Safety approval and permits.
