Our employees have a unique duty and obligation to act in a professional manner and respect the rights of all persons they contact. South Gate Police Officers and our civilian staff are provided a range of discretion during the course of their duties and they are tasked with exercising their best judgment at all times. They are also required to initiate enforcement action and/or provide police services in a reasonable and impartial manner without the fear of reprisal.
The South Gate Police Department acknowledges the responsibility to establish a procedure which will not only address the subject employees to corrective action when they conduct themselves improperly, but will also support employees when they properly discharge their duties.
